“November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Ceremony” Held at the New Campus of the Supreme Council
In honor of the 86th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, a commemorative ceremony was held by our Council at the new campus of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History. The ceremony was attended by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, ministers, and other high-ranking officials.
Before the ceremony, President Erdoğan officially inaugurated the new campus of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History. In his remarks, Erdoğan said, “Today, we are inaugurating this magnificent, beautiful, and well-equipped building of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History. It is significant for us to hold such an opening ceremony on November 10. Without using any funds from the national budget, this facility has been built. We are delighted for this reason as well. May these facilities bring good to our nation and country.”
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Following this, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Ankara State Classical Turkish Music Choir performed “Atatürk’s Favorite Songs” Afterward, a promotional film about the Supreme Council was shown.
The ceremony’s official addresses were delivered by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Supreme Council President H.E. Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs.
President Erdoğan began his speech by greeting the audience and paying respects to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, on the 86th anniversary of his passing.
Erdoğan offered prayers for all the martyrs, veterans, and heroes who have given their lives since the Battle of Manzikert to make these lands a homeland. He said, “May the Almighty protect our security forces, who are serving for the peace of our nation and the continuity of our state both within and beyond our borders.”
Expressing gratitude to all citizens who work tirelessly to ensure the success of the Republic, now entering the “Century of Türkiye” after its first century, Erdoğan said:
“In the words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal, Commander-in-Chief of the National Struggle, ‘Our common goal is to elevate our country above the level of contemporary civilization.’ Any word, stance, or action aimed at disrupting the unity and solidarity of this nation is a direct betrayal of Atatürk’s legacy.”
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy began his speech by honoring Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk—the Commander-in-Chief of the War of Independence and founder of the Republic of Türkiye—who, a century ago, ignited the torch of independence and freedom in the face of imperialists threatening the homeland, remembering him with reverence, gratitude, and respect.
Minister Ersoy also paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the National Struggle who fought on all fronts for the independence of the homeland and the freedom of the nation, emphasizing that the truest way to remember Atatürk today is by upholding his legacy and fully understanding his goals.
Minister Ersoy stated that they are working hard and will continue to do so to safeguard the Republic and Atatürk’s legacy, aiming to realize his vision. He added that he believes the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History and its affiliated institutions will deliver invaluable contributions to Turkish culture, history, and language through this exemplary, stellar project
The President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History, H.E Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, expressed great pleasure in hosting the state dignitaries and guests at the program held on the 86th anniversary of the passing of the Republic of Türkiye’s founder, the great statesman and protector of science, art, and culture, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Örs commemorated with respect, gratitude, and reverence the fallen martyrs and heroic veterans who, led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, sacrificed their lives for the homeland from the War of Independence to the present day. He stated:
“Our Republic, now in its 101st year, has entered its second century—the Century of Türkiye—with steady steps, as phrased by Your Excellency. In a critical era marked by economic, political, and military turbulence, wars, and conflicts around the world, especially in our close region, history will undoubtedly bear witness to the value and significance of our great goal for unity and solidarity among the Turkish world, embodying Ismail Gaspıralı’s ideal of unity in language, thought, and work. One of the most significant steps taken toward this goal has been the adoption of the 34-letter Turkish alphabet by the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States.”
Continuing his speech, Örs noted that the official opening ceremony of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History complex, which was commissioned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 19, 2014, had taken place. He remarked, “Our Turkish Historical Society, Turkish Language Association, Atatürk Research Center, and Atatürk Culture Center, now housed together in one of the most magnificent buildings in our capital, Ankara, worthy of Atatürk’s name, will continue to work along the principles laid out for the Century of Türkiye ideal. They will generate and share the scientific knowledge needed in language, history, and social sciences.”
Örs went on to express his deep gratitude on behalf of himself, the institution’s leaders, and staff to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his extraordinary support during the construction process of the new complex.
In closing, Örs thanked Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy; Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum; former and current TOKİ (Housing Development Administration) Presidents Ömer Bulut and Mustafa Levent Sungur; Hilmi Güner, the architect of this beautiful project; contractor Ahmet Özyazıcı; former Supreme Council President H.E Ambassador Prof.Dr. Muhammet Hekimoğlu; and everyone who contributed to the project, particularly Turkish Historical Society President Prof. Dr.Yüksel Özgen and Turkish Language Association President Prof. Dr. Osman Mert, as well as all those involved in this process since 2014.
