On November 30, 2024, the Supreme Council for Atatürk Culture, Language, and History organized a Scientific Board Workshop at the Conference Hall of the Supreme Council’s New Campus.

The opening ceremony of the program began with a moment of silence, the recital of the National Anthem, and a screening of the Supreme Council’s promotional video.

H.E. Prof. Dr. Derya Örs delivered the opening speech of the ceremony.

At the beginning of his speech, Örs stated, “The decision to construct our new campus was made in 2014, and over the course of nearly a decade, we faced various challenges and ups and downs. However, after overcoming all these difficulties, we successfully completed the construction in July-August 2024 and are proud to deliver a structure worthy of our nation, culture, and the scientific community. Seeing this effort come to fruition is a great source of pride for all of us.”

Touching on the 2024 activities, Örs said, “Under the umbrella of the Supreme Council, the Atatürk Research Center, Turkish Language Society, Turkish Historical Society, and Atatürk Culture Center published a total of 224 works. Moreover, we distributed 107,795 copies of our publications free of charge on various occasions. This achievement demonstrates that we rank first among public publishing institutions.”

Highlighting a significant step taken within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, Örs remarked, “With the significant contributions of our Turkish Language Society, the adoption of the 34-character ‘Common Alphabet of the Turkic World’ is a historic step towards the cultural integration of the Turkic world.”

Expressing gratitude to the Scientific Board members, Örs said, “I extend my thanks to the members whose terms have ended for their contributions. I also expect our newly elected Scientific Board members to share their knowledge and expertise in their respective fields, enabling us to achieve even greater successes in 2025 through their contributions.”

Drawing attention to recent regional and global crises, Örs emphasized, “While we must protect our country’s history, culture, and national values, it is equally essential to advocate for them effectively on international platforms. In this regard, our Atatürk Research Center and Turkish Historical Society are making significant efforts.”

Concluding his speech with an appeal to academics, Örs said, “To advance our democratic achievements in political, economic, and cultural fields, we must work together. Regardless of their worldview, the contributions of every academic who supports the core interests of our nation are invaluable.”

Following the opening ceremony, the Scientific Board meetings of the Turkish Historical Society, Turkish Language Society, Atatürk Culture Center, and Atatürk Research Center were held. H.E. Prof. Dr. Derya Örs attended the Scientific Board meetings of the affiliated institutions.
