Happy 103rd Anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne

Signed on 24 July 1923, the Treaty of Lausanne transformed the military victory of the Turkish War of Independence into a lasting legal and diplomatic achievement. It secured the independence, sovereignty, and international legitimacy of the Republic of Türkiye and has taken its place in history as one of the founding documents of the modern Turkish state.

Confirming the achievements of the Turkish National Struggle under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk within the framework of international law, the Treaty of Lausanne stands as one of the most significant milestones in the foundation of modern Türkiye.

On the anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, we commemorate with respect and pride this historic diplomatic achievement, which affirmed the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Türkiye in the international arena.

“The Treaty of Lausanne is a document that signifies the collapse of a great conspiracy which had been prepared against the Turkish nation for centuries and was believed to have been completed by the Treaty of Sèvres.”
