H.E. Prof. Dr. Derya Örs Attended the Scientific Board Meetings of the Affiliated Institutions
H.E. Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, attended the Scientific Board meetings of the institutions affiliated with the Supreme Council, which play a leading role in Türkiye’s scholarly production in the fields of Atatürk studies, history, language, and culture. Held at the Supreme Council Campus on 11, 13, 14, and 18 May 2026, the meetings provided a comprehensive review of ongoing academic work and future institutional priorities.
Speaking at the Scientific Board meeting of the Atatürk Research Center on 11 May 2026, President Örs emphasized that studies on the history of the Republic have entered a new phase through digital transformation and the expanding use of artificial intelligence in research. Referring also to the “Turkish Civil Code and the Republic” exhibition opened prior to the meeting, he noted that the Journal of Atatürk Studies, research on the Nutuk, and digital encyclopedia projects constitute key components of the institution’s academic output.
At the Scientific Board meeting of the Turkish Historical Society held on 13 May 2026, President Örs commemorated Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in recognition of his role in the foundation of the institution and highlighted its 95-year institutional legacy. Emphasizing the need to strengthen publishing, digitalization, and library initiatives in the field of history, he described the public access provided to the Dictionary of Turkish History and the expanding cooperation with universities in library services as significant advancements.
At the Scientific Board meeting of the Atatürk Culture Center on 14 May 2026, President Örs presented evaluations regarding studies in culture, arts, and thought. He noted that ongoing projects in areas such as translation, folklore, art history, and philosophy are being conducted through an interdisciplinary approach, underlining that the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage to future generations remains a core priority.
At the Scientific Board meeting of the Turkish Language Association held on 18 May 2026, President Örs reviewed efforts aimed at preserving and developing the Turkish language. He highlighted the significance of the Corpus Project and lexicographical studies in documenting the lexical richness of Turkish, and stated that work continues on digital databases and artificial intelligence-supported initiatives designed to ensure the language’s future resilience.
At the conclusion of the meetings, President Örs expressed his gratitude to the head of the affiliated institutions, members of the Scientific Boards, and all staff, noting his satisfaction with the contributions of these activities to institutional governance and scholarly production.
