Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day

The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which convened on April 23, 1920, strongly affirmed that sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation. Our “Gazi Parliament” also served as the political center of the War of Independence, reflecting a determined stance on the path to independence.

The fact that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, dedicated this meaningful day to children is a powerful expression of the will to preserve and sustain the ideal of national sovereignty together with future generations.

We commemorate, with respect, gratitude, and mercy, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as all the heroes of the War of Independence. Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

Little ladies, little gentlemen! You are all the roses, the stars, the shining hopes of the future. It is you who will carry the country into the light. Work with the awareness of how important and valuable you are.”

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
