The 95th Anniversary of the Turkish Historical Society Celebrated

The 95th anniversary of the Turkish Historical Society (TTK), which was established to strengthen the intellectual foundations of the Republic and to illuminate our history through scientific research, was celebrated with a panel and exhibition program held at the Society’s Sıhhiye Campus. The event was attended by the President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, H.E. Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, along with the Society’s administrators, members of the TTK Scientific Board, and numerous guests.

In his opening speech at the panel organized as part of the program, Örs commemorated with respect and gratitude all those who had contributed to the Society since its establishment, particularly its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as former presidents, administrators, members of the Scientific Board, and staff. Örs emphasized that the Turkish Historical Society holds a deeply rooted place in the cultural and intellectual life of Türkiye.

Stating that the Turkish Historical Society has served as a “school” for Turkish historiography, Örs noted that since its establishment in 1931 the institution has developed a strong tradition of researching and advancing Turkish history through scientific methods. He also pointed out that Türkiye’s rich historical heritage has not yet been fully uncovered and stated that efforts to research, preserve, and present this heritage to the public will continue with determination.

As part of the program, the exhibition titled “Târîh-i Osmânî Encümeni Kütüphanesinden Türk Tarih Kurumu Kütüphanesine” was also inaugurated. At the end of the event, the Society’s administrators and guests toured the exhibition and received information about the works on display.
